Albert Einstein began his formal education at the age of six. Despite earning good grades, his teachers did not consider him to be particularly talented. His aversion to the traditional school model and authority figures often put him at odds with his instructors.

Einstein once commented on his educational experience, stating, “It is, in fact, nothing short of a miracle that the modern methods of instruction have not yet entirely strangled the holy curiosity of inquiry."

Math and science were subjects in which Einstein excelled. By the age of 11, he was reading college-level physics textbooks, and at 12, he discovered a passion for geometry. By the time he was 14, Einstein had mastered differential and integral calculus.

Frustrated with the rigid curriculum at his school in Munich, Einstein decided to drop out at the age of 15. He spent the following year educating himself. At 16, he took a college entrance exam, excelling in the math and science sections but failing in language and history. This led him to enroll in a secondary school that fostered creativity and free thinking.

After graduating in 1896, Einstein attended the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich. There, he continued to shine in math and science while forming lasting friendships and engaging in deep conversations about space and time with fellow students, despite his dislike for attending lectures.
