Many actors who start their careers as child actors, get fame, and later find it difficult to get their first big break. One such actor, who won a National Award at 14, took 6 years to get his first big break. The actor we are talking about has worked with Rani Mukerji and Gulshan Grover and is now winning hearts with his performance in the OTT show. He is none other than Harsh Mayar. 

Harsh Mayar started his career when he was just 8 years old and joined Shri Ram Center in Delhi for his acting classes. After giving 180 auditions, he got selected for Chillar Party, however, later turned it down after he broke his right hand while playing.

He finally made his debut alongside Gulshan Grover in the movie I Am Kalam. Helmed by Nila Madhab Panda, the film has won several awards. Harsh won international awards for his performance and even won the National Award for the Best Child Artist for I Am Kalam (2011). However, this was not the end of his struggle. He did some small roles in television shows and movies after this, however, he waited for his first break for 6 years before he got Hichki alongside Rani Mukerji. 

Talking about the same Harsh Mayar told Hindustan Times, “When I was young, mujhe knowledge nahi thi inn sab cheezon ki. But later, when I came to Mumbai, I realized that this is a very different world and it will be difficult to have an experience here on my own, I got my first huge break with Hichki (2018) after six years [of waiting], and I couldn’t believe what happened. So, agar pehle nahi bhi mila kaam and baad mai mila, toh mujhe koi complaint nahi hai. Without any film family background, at least people saw the talent in me and gave me work.” 

He then made his OTT debut with the hit show Gullak as Aman Mishra and his performance is still being loved by the audience as the new season has arrived. Gullak is created by Shreyansh Pandey and stars Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, and Sunita Rajwar. The show has 4 seasons and is available to watch on SonyLIV. Harsh also starred in Disney+ Hotstar’s Kanpuriye, ZEE5 series Abhay and more. He has now became an OTT star and if reports are to be believed, the actor charges Rs 1 lakh per day.
