Disha Patani is revelling in the success of her new film Kalki 2898 AD. The Telugu pan-India film has opened very strongly, earning Rs 570 crore worldwide in its first five days and becoming the year’s highest-grossing Indian film. On Tuesday, the actress was in news for something different, however. She was spotted sporting a new tattoo – the initials PD. This sparked rumours that Disha is dating her Kalki co-star Prabhas with many fans jumping to the conclusion.

What is Disha’s new tattoo about?

On Tuesday, some paparazzi spotted Disha sporting a sleeveless top and white trousers, with the new ink visible on her left forearm. The tattoo simply is the two letters PD. This led to fans wildly speculating about it, with even Disha sharing the picture on her Instagram on Tuesday evening. “Amused to see so much curiosity around my tattoo! Discover what the joy is all about,” the actress wrote, adding the hashtag #cloudnine. The tattoo led to several fans of the actress speculating that it was short for Prabhas + Disha and a sort of confirmation that the two former co-stars are dating.

The real story behind Disha’s PD tattoo

However, sources reveal that the real meaning of the tattoo is much more unromantic. As per a source, the tattoo is part of a brand promotional campaign. The fact that Disha, who is usually mum on speculations around her personal life, chose to share the image on her social media, pretty much confirms that it is part of some promotion. The source adds that the PD signifies Prime Day, an upcoming promotion of Amazon Prime, which includes content on its OTT platform Prime Video. However, so far Amazon or Disha haven’t confirmed this but are likely to in the next few days. As per a press release from Amazon, this year, the Prime Day falls on July 20-21.

Disha’s recent work

Disha was most recently seen in a supporting role in Kalki 2898 AD. The Nag Ashwin film is a dystopian epic linked to Indian mythological epic Mahabharat and stars Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone. The actress will be next seen in another pan-India film Kanguva, followed by Welcome to the Jungle.
