As India entered 2025, quick-delivery services saw a huge increase in orders, showing just how much people rely on instant delivery during celebrations. Platforms like Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart revealed the most popular items people bought on New Year’s Eve, offering a glimpse into India’s festive shopping habits.
According to Blinkit co-founder Albinder Dhindsa, grapes were among the top items ordered. “We've already delivered 7x more grapes than we do on a regular day,” he said. This was in line with the tradition of eating grapes at midnight for good luck. Many users even shared why this tradition is so popular.

Along with grapes, other party essentials like chips, soda, aloo bhujia, ice cubes, lipsticks, and lighters were frequently ordered. Surprisingly, men’s underwear was also ordered in large numbers, adding an unexpected twist to the list.
Swiggy Instamart also saw a rise in popular items, such as milk, chips, chocolates, and paneer. Chips and cold drinks were the biggest sellers, with over 5 lakh packets of chips sold. Cold drinks saw a massive increase, with cola soft drinks up by 394% and clear soft drinks soaring by 941%. Non-alcoholic beer was another surprising hit, jumping by 1541.72%.
Apart from food and drinks, games and puzzles also became a hot item, with sales for games like Uno rising by 600%.
From grapes to condoms, the range of items ordered on New Year’s Eve shows how people celebrate in their own unique ways. Quick-delivery services have clearly become a big part of India’s holiday celebrations.
