Who is Kevin Marino Cabrera? Donald Trump nominates Miami-Dade official as US ambassador to Panama

Kevin Marino Cabrera, a former Florida state director, was nominated US ambassador to Panama by US President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday. According to Trump, Kevin will promote US interests in Panama in a "FANTASTIC" manner. It was announced on Trump's 'Truth Social' platform.

In a statement released on Truth Social, Trump said, "I am pleased to announce that Kevin Marino Cabrera will serve as the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Panama, a country that is ripping us off on the Panama Canal, far beyond their wildest dreams."

"Kevin is a fierce fighter for America First principles," he added.

At the moment, Kevin Marino Cabrera is a commissioner for Miami-Dade County. In addition, he is the International Trade Consortium's vice chairman. 

Cabrera, a Miami native, represents District Six on the Miami-Dade County Commission, which includes the cities of Miami, Hialeah, Coral Gables, Miami Springs, Virginia Gardens, and West Miami in addition to the rural portions of the county.

During Trump's first term as president, Kevin served as the state director of Florida.

As a Miami-Dade County Commissioner, and Vice Chairman of the International Trade Consortium, he has been instrumental in driving Economic growth, and fostering International partnerships. In 2020, Kevin did an incredible job as my Florida State Director and, this year, advanced our MAGA Agenda as a Member of the RNC Platform Committee," Trump added.

Trump thinks Cabrera's understanding of Latin American politics qualifies him for the position.

"Few understand Latin American politics as well as Kevin - He will do a FANTASTIC job representing our Nation’s interests in Panama!" he said.
