A Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 crashed at Muan International Airport on Sunday morning, killing at least 47 people onboard. A footage captured the twin-engine aircraft skidding off the runway and crashing into a wall before bursting into flames.

The plane, carrying 181 passengers, including six crew members, attempted a "belly landing" without fully extending its landing gear. This resulted in a fiery crash that sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky.

So far, two survivors—a passenger and a flight attendant—have been rescued, local media reported. Earlier, a fire department official stated that 29 deaths have been confirmed, warning the toll could rise due to the critically injured.

Rescue operations began immediately after the crash, with emergency teams working to evacuate passengers from the rear section of the aircraft. Over 32 fire trucks and numerous firefighters were deployed to the site. The crash occurred around 9 am, with the aircraft traveling from Bangkok to Muan, according to FlightRadar24.

Preliminary investigations suggest the crash was caused by birds striking the aircraft, damaging its landing gear.

South Korea’s acting President Choi Sang-Mok has ordered an all-out rescue effort. “All related agencies must mobilize every resource to save lives,” he said. An emergency meeting was convened by his chief of staff to coordinate the response.

Rescue operations are ongoing as authorities work tirelessly to manage the aftermath of one of South Korea’s deadliest aviation disasters in recent years.
