The Pacific Palisades home, previously owned by late actor Matthew Perry, has escaped the Los Angeles wildfire. Indian-origin, Anita Verma-Lallian, the new owner of the house, confirmed the news in her official Instagram post, as reported by PEOPLE.
Taking to Instagram, Anita shared her grief over the wildfire, which have caused a massive destruction of properties.
"My heart is absolutely broken over the devastating fires in the Palisades. When we were looking to buy a home, we explored several neighborhoods in LA, but the moment we discovered the Palisades, we immediately fell in love. Its beauty, its sense of community, and the peace it offered made it feel like the perfect place to call home. Seeing it engulfed in flames feels like a personal loss, like losing a part of our hearts. I can’t stop thinking about the wildlife fleeing, the trees and trails now gone, and the destruction of a place that means so much to so many", she wrote.
She further expressed her gratitute towards firefighters and said that the Pacific Palisades has escaped the wildfire.
"It’s hard to put into words how devastated we feel. It’s been such a tough week, but we are incredibly thankful to have learned that our house is okay. We want to express our deepest gratitude to the brave firefighters, our amazing neighbors, and the entire Palisades community for their help, strength, and support during this heartbreaking time. A very special thanks to our wonderful agent, @brooke.elliott.laurinkus who grew up in the house next door to us and has been so helpful in keeping us updated on everything happening. Brooke will also be assisting anyone in need of a temporary home during this time", she added.
Anita further emphasised that the home, previously owned by the 'Friends' star, would always remain special to her. She urged everyone to extend donations to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) foundation in order to assist those affected by the tragedy.
"Please consider donating to the @lafdfoundation .Our firefighters are working tirelessly, and everything we can give helps support their heroic efforts. Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragedy, and we hope we can come together to heal, protect, and rebuild what’s been lost. The Palisades will always hold a special place in our hearts", Anita says.
The Pacific Palisades home was owned by actor Matthew Perry, who died in October 2023, due to a fatal ketamine overdose, as per media reports.
Los Angeles wildfire
The death toll in the Los Angeles wildfires has increased to 11, according to The Associated Press. Properties worth crores and celebrity homes have been engulfed in the fire.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden described the situation as a “war scene,” BBC reported.
“We’re gonna make sure California has every possible resource to fight this fire, and survive it,” he said. The President also acknowledged the likelihood of increasing casualties and affirmed that there is a "clear evidence of looting" in evacuated homes, as per the report.
