Israel-Iran War: Israel defence minister's BIG warning to Iran, says 'Tehran will burn if...'

Israel defence minister Katz has warned Iran, saying 'Tehran will burn' if it continues to fire more missiles at Jerusalem. "The Iranian dictator is holding his people hostage to a reality they do not want. They will pay heavily for the criminal attack on Israeli civilians," he said.

"If (Ayatollah Ali) Khamenei continues to fire missiles toward the Israeli home front –- Tehran will burn", said Katz. Earlier today, Israel targeted an army base in Zanjan, a city located approximately 200 miles from Tehran in northern Iran, Al Jazeera reported, citing UK-based outlet Iran International. In a video released by the Israeli Air Force, the aftermath of the attack demonstrated significant damage, including smoke and fire emerging from the spot.

Here's what you need to know 

Shortly before dawn in Iran, the Israel military forces launched multiple strikes against Tehran's nuclear program under an operation called 'Rising Lion'. According to a CNN report, the attacks included heavy airstrikes against at least one of Iran’s enrichment sites and more targeted strikes in Tehran to decapitate the regime’s military leadership. It aimed to suspend Tehran's "rapid progress in developing nuclear weapons". 

Meanwhile, Iran's envoy Amir Saeid Iravani said at a United Nations Security Council meeting that Israeli strikes has resulted in 78 casualties, with mostly civilians. 

On Saturday morning, Iran also launched multiple waves of missiles and drones towards Israel following the latter's attack, as a part of "crushing response". Iran claimed that it hit military-industrial centers in Israel used for producing missiles and other military equipment. What is pertinent to note here that Israel's attacks follow years of nuclear threats and days of heightened speculations.
