In a significant event marking the dawn of 2025, India welcomed its first baby of the ‘Generation Beta’ on New Year's Day, January 1, in Aizawl, Mizoram.

According to reports from All India Radio News, a baby boy, named Frankie Remruatdika Zadeng, was born at 12:03 am at the Synod hospital in Durtlang, making him the first child of this new generation.

The baby boy weighed 3.12 kg at birth, symbolising the start of the new generation's era.

Sister Lalchhuanawmi from the hospital's Lawmna Ward reported that the newborn is in good health and has experienced no complications.

As per Akashvani News Aizawl, Frankie is the newest addition to his family, which includes an older sister, his mother Ramzirmawii, and father ZD Remruatsanga. The family resides in the Khatla East area of Aizawl.

The mother expressed her joy at having given birth to the country's first Beta baby.

Futurist Mark McCrindle introduced the term 'Gen Beta' to refer to children born between 2025 and 2039, predicting that by 2035, they will comprise 16 percent of the global population.

In a blog post, McCrindle elaborated that these children will be the offspring of Gen Ys (millennials) and older Gen Zs, noting that many of the Gen Beta babies are expected to live into the 22nd century.

The post further explained that the last and current generations have been labeled as Alpha and Beta to "signify not just new generations, but the first generations that will be shaped by an entirely different world."

"That is why we moved to the Greek alphabet, to signify how these different generations will be raised in a new world of technological integration," it added.

McCrindle's website highlighted that Gen Beta represents a significant chapter in the changing world.

His research indicated that Gen Beta will experience a seamless integration of the digital and physical worlds, living "in an era where AI (artificial intelligence) and automation are fully embedded in everyday life, spanning education, workplaces, healthcare, and entertainment."

Gen Beta, McCrindle said, "will grow up in a world shaped by breakthroughs in technology, evolving social norms, and an increasing focus on sustainability and global citizenship"
