Billionaire Elon Musk, known for his ambitious projects, has announced a unique opportunity for software engineers to contribute to his vision of creating an “everything app.” This app, which he aims to build on the X platform (formerly Twitter), will be a comprehensive application offering multiple services, similar to the concept of super apps popular in Asia.

In a post on X, Musk invited “hardcore software engineers” to join his team and help turn this dream into reality. He emphasized that traditional qualifications like degrees or experience at big-name companies do not matter. Instead, Musk is focused on talent and results. Engineers who want to join the project can simply send examples of their “best work” to code@x.com.

Musk wrote, “If you’re a hardcore software engineer and want to build the everything app, please join us by sending your best work to code@x.com. We don’t care where you go to school or even whether you go to school or what ‘big name’ company you work for. Just show us your code.”

What is the “Everything App”?
The “everything app” or super app is a platform that combines multiple services into one application. For instance, it could offer messaging, social networking, e-commerce shopping, and financial transactions. These types of apps are already popular in Asia, with examples like WeChat in China. WeChat allows users to send money, book taxis, and make store payments, all from one app. Similarly, Grab in Southeast Asia provides food delivery, ride-hailing, and financial services.

X Money in the Works?
Musk’s post comes two weeks after X CEO Linda Yaccarino hinted at upcoming financial features called “X Money.” In her January 1, 2025 post, she mentioned plans for financial services, a TV platform, and more on X in the near future.

With Musk’s call for talented engineers, the journey toward creating this revolutionary app seems to be gaining momentum.
