Viral video of saag preparation in Pakistan takes internet by storm, social media says divided by boarder united by saag

Saag is a highly cherished dish, particularly favored during the winter months in India. For those raised in North Indian households, its significance is well understood. When served with fresh makki ki rotis, this classic pairing is unbeatable. Interestingly, the affection for saag transcends borders and is also appreciated in neighboring Pakistan.

A recent Instagram video showcased the traditional preparation of this dish in a village in Faisalabad, Pakistan, emphasising the careful process of making saag from scratch. After viewing it, many are likely to find themselves craving this delicious dish.

The video was posted by the Instagram account @mrzezothefoodie. In the clip, the digital creator introduces Chaudhary Saleem, the man responsible for preparing the saag, who generously shares a significant amount with his friends every year.

The preparation process starts with cutting the sargon and bringing it into the house. It is then cleaned and chopped using machines before being thoroughly washed and placed into a large cooking pot.

The saag is slow-cooked for nine hours, after which excess water is drained to lessen its bitterness. Fresh water is then introduced, along with salt and green chili paste, and it is cooked for an additional hour before being taken off the heat. Following this, makki ki atta is added and mixed thoroughly before being transferred to a degh (cauldron), where it is pureed using a machine. The saag is now prepared and packaged for distribution to his friends.

Many internet users were intrigued by the saag-making process showcased in the video. One viewer commented, "Sending a friend request to Chaudhary Saab," while another expressed, "Please add me to your list.

Omg, I'm missing Lahore." A third user noted, "Authentic way to make saag," and a fourth shared, "Love from India." A seperate user said, 'divided by boarder united by saag.'
