The Gaekwad dynastic residence, Lakshmi Vilas Palace, exceeds Buckingham Palace in size and historical grandeur. It is one of India’s oldest living memories of historical grandeur and heritage. The Palace was built in the 1890s for Rs 25,000 crore. It is owned by Maharaja Samarjitsinh Gaekwad and Radhikaraje Gaekwad and continues Baroda's regal legacy.  

Samarjitsinh Gaekwad is the scion of the esteemed Gaekwad dynasty and the reigning Maharaja of Baroda. The royal mansion is an abode of Samarjitsinh Gaekwad and his wife Radhikaraje Gaekwad along with other relatives.
