Swami Ramdev shares his health secrets, emphasizing a satvik diet, yoga, and lifestyle choices for staying fit and disease-free at 59.
At the age of 59, Swami Ramdev remains impressively fit, with his thick black hair symbolizing his excellent health. Known for his disciplined lifestyle, he attributes his fitness to eating just one meal a day and following a satvik diet. This diet, consisting mainly of natural and simple foods, has helped him remain disease-free for the past 50 years. In an interview with Curly Tales, Swami Ramdev revealed his daily routine, diet, and tips for a healthy life.
Swami Ramdev begins his day at 3 a.m. with a glass of warm water on an empty stomach. After completing his morning chores, he takes a bath, meditates for an hour, and goes for a run. By early morning, he is ready to teach yoga to others. He firmly believes that a satvik lifestyle combined with yoga can help people stay young and disease-free until the age of 100.
His one meal of the day is usually around 11–12 noon and mainly consists of fruits, bottle gourd, zucchini, and mixed vegetables. He avoids grains 99% of the time, occasionally consuming millets but quickly giving them up. Rice and wheat, he claims, are the root causes of many diseases and should be avoided.
Swami Ramdev also advises against eating certain foods at night, such as sweets, tea, coffee, curd, buttermilk, and chocolate. For those who have trouble sleeping, he suggests eating onions as a natural remedy.
For better health, he recommends specific foods: pomegranate, carrot, beetroot, wheatgrass, and aloe vera for anemia; radish for a healthy stomach and liver; and custard apple for preventing acidity.
Ramdev strongly advocates practicing yoga daily, especially Kapalbhati and Anulom Vilom Pranayama, which promote inner health and vitality. His message is clear: a disciplined lifestyle, healthy diet, and yoga are the keys to a long, healthy, and fulfilling life.
