Reliance Industries celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Jamnagar petroleum refinery by releasing a nostalgic video featuring a young Mukesh Ambani from the company's archives. The video, shared on the social media platform X, shows the Chairman and Managing Director discussing the refinery's inception and its importance, all set against the backdrop of the facility.

“Jamnagar has demonstrated unquestionable to the world that if we can dream it, we can do it,” said Mukesh Ambani in the video.

Reliance captioned the post, “Making of a Marvel. Discover the extraordinary vision and unmatched scale behind the creation of the Jamnagar refinery. From groundbreaking innovation to record-breaking construction, witness how a marvel was made.”

Mukesh Ambani shared insights into his father Dhirubhai Ambani’s vision for the refinery, “My father Dhirubhai Ambani’s vision really is, and what is imbibed in each one of us, that whatever you do has to be world-class,” he said. This statement underscores the commitment to excellence that was foundational in the refinery's development.

About Jamnagar Refinery 

Reliance Industries' Jamnagar refinery celebrated its 25th anniversary on Sunday, December 28. The company inaugurated its first refinery in Jamnagar, Gujarat, on December 28, 1999.

Currently, the refinery has a production capacity of 1.4 million barrels per day and processes 247 grades of crude feedstock sourced from around the world. It has been instrumental in decreasing India's reliance on refined petroleum imports while enhancing the country's exports of refined petroleum products.

The company allocated $3.5 billion in capital costs to establish the initial facility on a 5,000-acre barren land in 1999. The refinery has played a significant role in decreasing India's imports of refined petroleum goods while also boosting the country's exports of refined petroleum products to international markets.

As per the company's emission targets, the Jamnagar refinery has not yet achieved its Net Zero emission standards, which are set to be reached by the target year of 2035.
