During his concert, Martin read out placards held by fans, including one that said, ‘Jai Shri Ram’, which drew cheers from the crowd.
British rock band Coldplay, led by Chris Martin, delivered a mesmerizing performance at the DY Patil Stadium, leaving the crowd in awe. The band played their iconic hits, including ‘Fix You’ and ‘A Sky Full of Stars’, amidst a dazzling display of colourful lights, elaborate designs, and confetti cannons.
Martin, the band's vocalist, surprised the audience by incorporating Hindi phrases into the show, saying ‘shukriya’ (thank you) after a song. He also read out placards held by fans, including one that said ‘Jai Shri Ram’, which drew cheers from the crowd. Martin even asked the audience about the phrase's meaning.
Earlier, Martin surprised the audience by giving a shout-out to Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, joking that Bumrah wanted to "come and play backstage" and even "bowl at" him. Although Bumrah didn't appear on stage, Martin's mention of his name elicited a loud cheer from the cricket-loving crowd.
Coldplay's 'Music of the Spheres World Tour' has arrived in India, with the British rock band set to perform in Navi Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21 at the DY Patil Sports Stadium. The tour will then move to Ahmedabad, where Coldplay will take the stage at the Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25 and 26.
Ahead of the concert, Martin and his partner, Dakota Johnson, were spotted visiting the Shri Babulnath Temple, where they opted for traditional attire. A touching moment captured the hearts of onlookers when Dakota Johnson gently leaned in to whisper her wishes into the ear of Nandi, the sacred bull of Lord Shiva. The photos and videos showcased the couple's genuine reverence and appreciation for Indian culture.
Another heartwarming video also surfaced, showcasing a tender moment between Chris Martin and a young fan. As Chris was leaving a temple, a little boy approached him, asking for a concert ticket. Chris warmly greeted the child and his family, shared a high-five, and generously gifted the young fan a special memento, creating an unforgettable memory.
