Former US President Donald Trump and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, known for their strong bond, seem to be at odds over a major Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiative. Trump, who had trusted Musk with significant responsibilities even before becoming president, announced a USD 500 billion investment in AI soon after taking office. However, this ambitious plan, called "Stargate," has reportedly upset Musk.

The Stargate project aims to position the United States as a global leader in AI, countering China's rapid advancements in technology. It promises to create over 100,000 jobs and significantly boost America’s AI capabilities. Trump launched the program in partnership with several tech industry leaders, including SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison.

Despite being considered a close advisor to Trump, Elon Musk has openly criticized the project on social media platform X. Musk expressed concerns about the financial viability of the initiative, stating that tech companies involved lack sufficient funds for such a massive investment. He particularly targeted SoftBank, alleging that the company has less than USD 10 billion in secured funds to contribute to the project.

Musk’s dissatisfaction didn’t stop there. He also launched a direct attack on Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI. Musk, who co-founded OpenAI with Altman, is now involved in a legal dispute with the company. His remarks have added to the controversy surrounding the Stargate project, casting doubts on its execution and funding.

In response to Musk’s criticism, Trump addressed the media, stating that all concerns raised by the involved parties have been resolved. He suggested that Musk’s anger might be rooted in personal disagreements rather than valid objections. Trump confidently remarked, “I have no problem with it. The people involved in the deal are very smart.”

While the Stargate project aims to secure America’s dominance in AI, the rift between Trump and Musk has brought additional scrutiny to this ambitious endeavor.
