The third season of FX’s global hit The Bear premiered last week worldwide. The dark comedy follows Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), who is forced to run his late brother’s restaurant and starts a restaurant of his own along the way. Coinciding with the release of the third season, the show’s principal cast interacted with the global media in a press conference that was attended by DNA. The actors shared how playing restaurant workers has affected their relationship with food and the restaurant industry in general.

Abby Elliot, who plays Carmy’s sister Sugar on the show, said she has become more sympathetic to restaurant workers’ workload now. “I have two little kids and now when I go to restaurants, I'm constantly thinking about cleaning up after them. And if they drop anything on the floor, it's like kind of a stressful thing because you just know how hard restaurant workers work. Yeah, so it's definitely changed for me,” she said.

Actress-turned-director Ayo Edebiri, who plays sous chef Sydney on the show, echoed this sentiment and added that she clears her own plate now, much to the annoyance of servers. “I feel like every server is like, stop doing that,” the actress added with a laugh.

The show’s lead actor Jeremy Allen White added that all of the cast members had greater sensitivity towards restaurants and what happens behind the scenes there. The actor explained, “I think all of us probably just have much more interest and then, yes, like a hypersensitivity now in restaurants and to restaurants.”

FX’s The Bear was created by Christopher Storer, and also stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas and Matty Matheson, with Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon. The show streams on Disney+ Hotstar in India.
