Television power-couple Gurmeet Chaudhary and Debina Bonnerjee share their views on Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi-starrer Ramayana Part One. Gurmeet and Debina are still remembered for playing Lord Rama and Goddess Sita in Anand Sagar's Ramayan (2008). The couple took the challenge of playing the iconic characters on TV after Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia left an evergreen impression of the mighty figures in the iconic 1987 Ramayan. Just like them, Ranbir and Sai have a mammoth task to narrate the world's biggest epic of good vs evil again, with the direction of Nitesh Tiwari. The two-part cinematic adaptation of Ramayana, produced by Prime Focus, is among the most awaited films. Gurmeet and Debina have also shared their thoughts on the casting, the vision, and the retelling of the Indian epic.

'I hope Ramayana duniya ke har kone mein poche': Gurmeet Choudhary

While promoting their new show, Pati Patni Aur Panga, Gurmeet and Debina didn't shy away from sharing their views on the new interpretation of Ramayana. Gurmeet says, "Mujhe iss baat ki khushi hai ki Ranbir is playing Lord Rama, he's a very good actor, and Nitesh Tiwari is directing him. Woh bahut hi sensible director hai. Toh aasha yehi karta hu ki jis tarah isse banaya ja raha hai, humare culture ko zyada se zyada log dekhe. Aur Ramayan ki kahani sirf Bharat mein hi nahi, balki poore vishva mein iski kahani jaye. Toh I think jis scale mein bana rahe, woh humare liye garv ki baat hai (I am happy that Ranbir is playing Lord Rama, he is a very good actor and Nitesh Tiwari is directing him. He is a very sensible director. So I hope that the way it is being made, more and more people will see our culture. And the story of Ramayan should not only be told in India but in the whole world. So I think the scale on which it is being made is a matter of pride for us)."

Gurmeet further expresses his happiness to see Ravi Dubey, another actor who started his career on TV, playing an integral role. "Aasha yehi karte hai ki acha bane. Jo cast hai, jaise Ravi Dubey Laxmana bane hai, toh I know he's a fine performer. I'm sure ki Lord Rama and Laxmana bahut ache se play kiya jayega (I hope this turns out to be good. I know the cast, like Ravi Dubey, is playing Laxmana. I know he's a fine performer. I'm sure Lord Rama and Laxmana will be played very well)."

Debina Bonnerjee calls Sai Pallavi 'perfect' to play Goddess Sita

Debina also adds her views about the film, and says, "Sai Pallavi is a brilliant actress. Recently, we saw a couple of her films. I think this is a very good casting. She has that innocent face and charm." In the conclusion, Debina adds, "The best part is Ramayan bante rehna chaiye. Baar-baar bante rehna chaiye, ek baar nahi. Humare generation ko jis tarike se... people are forgetting relationships, they are forgetting books, toh jis medium se log zyada connet karte hai, which is AV, toh isi ke sahare logo ko Ramayan ke baare mein seekh diya jaye (Ramayan should be adapted again and again. The way our generation...people are forgetting relationships, they are forgetting books, so the medium through which people connect more, which is this AV, we should narrate Ramayan). That could be the best thing that can happen." Ramayana Part One will release in Diwali 2026, followed by Ramayana Part Two in Diwali 2027.
