Anupamaa: Meet Adrija Roy who has replaced Alisha Parveen in Rupali Ganguly's show

Rupali Ganguly’s show Anupamaa has managed not only to dominate TRP charts but also to grab headlines for various reasons. This time, the show is in the news as the makers have suddenly replaced Alisha Parveen. The actress played the role of Rahi, the character which will now be portrayed by Adrija Roy. 

The sudden replacement of the actress has sent shockwaves, made even more startling by the fact that she was let go without any prior warning. Her role will now be taken over by Adrija Roy, known for her stint in Imlie alongside Sai Ketan Rao.

Who is Adrija Roy?

Adrija's rise to fame began with her impressive work in Bengali television, earning her a household name and widespread recognition. Adrija's acting career took off in 2016 with her debut in the Bengali series Bedini Moluar Kotha. She went on to star in several other popular Bengali shows, including Durga Durgeshwari, Potol Kumar Gaanwala, Jai Kali Kalkattawali, Mou Er Bari, and Bikram Betal.

She ventured into Hindi television in 2023, with her breakout role in the popular show Imlie, where she played the titular character. Born and raised in Kolkata, the 25-year-old actress relocated to Mumbai in 2022 to pursue better career opportunities. Beyond her acting prowess, Adrija is admired for her impeccable sense of style and charming personality. She is active on social media, engaging with fans and sharing glimpses of her personal and professional life.

However, she has yet to comment on her latest project, Anupamaa. Meanwhile, Alisha expressed shock at her replacement.  "It is shocking and disappointing. I am not sure what exactly happened and why I am replaced. Today was my last day on the set of Anupamaa. It was a fantastic opportunity and everybody loved my chemistry with Shivam Khajuria. But I have no clue why I was suddenly replaced. I had a meeting yesterday and was told about this decision. I am completely clueless but it happens sometimes. I will focus on my future projects now,” she told a publication. 

Meanwhile, Adrija Roy will be the new Rahi, the adopted daughter of Anupama(Rupali) and Anuj(Gaurav Khanna) in the show.
