Watch: Rishabh Pant shows interest in pickleball, takes on co-ownership of Mumbai Pickle Power team

Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper-batsman for Team India, is set to take on the role of co-owner for the Mumbai Pickle Power franchise in the first season of the World Pickleball League (WPBL). His participation in India's inaugural franchise-based pickleball league marks a significant moment for the sport, which is gaining immense popularity worldwide.

Pickleball is quickly becoming a global sensation, appealing to players of all ages and backgrounds. Its charm as a recreational and lifestyle choice is set to draw a considerable following in India in the years ahead.

The World Pickleball League (WPBL), founded by former Indian tennis stars Gaurav Natekar and Arati Ponnappa Natekar, will launch its first season from January 24 to February 2, 2025. The Mumbai Pickle Power team will kick off their journey against Pune United in the league's opening match.

All matches, including the grand finale on February 2, 2025, will take place at the renowned Cricket Club of India (Brabourne Stadium) in Mumbai and will be broadcast live on FanCode.

In the meantime, Rishabh Pant is preparing to play in the Ranji Trophy match for Delhi against Saurashtra in Rajkot. Pant, who hasn't participated in a Ranji Trophy game since leading Delhi in the final against Vidarbha in the 2017-18 season, is expected to be a key player for the visiting team, particularly given his skill against spin on a pitch likely to turn from the start.
