PV Sindhu marries Venkata Datta Sai in Udaipur; see first pic here

Badminton star PV Sindhu tied the knot with Venkata Datta Sai in a traditional Telugu ceremony held in Udaipur on Monday. The couple tied the knot in the presence of close family and friends. During the ceremony, the Culture and Tourism Minister of Jodhpur, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was also present. Today, taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, he shared the first picture from the wedding. However, the couple has not yet shared official photos.

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, congratulated the newlyweds by posting a photo from their wedding ceremony online.

Taking to X, he wrote, "Pleased to have attended the wedding ceremony of our Badminton Champion Olympian PV Sindhu with Venkatta Datta Sai in Udaipur last evening and conveyed my wishes & blessings to the couple for their new life ahead."

The wedding celebrations began on December 20 with a lively Sangeet ceremony, followed by Haldi, Pellikuthuru, and Mehendi rituals. For the main event, Sindhu wore a beautiful cream-colored saree that radiated elegance, while her groom matched her look in a coordinating cream sherwani.

Sindhu’s father shared that the families have known each other for a long time, but the wedding plans were finalised in just a month. The couple chose the wedding date strategically, considering Sindhu’s busy training and competition schedule for the upcoming year.

Meanwhile, Sindhu and Datta Sai are set to hold a reception in Sindhu’s hometown of Hyderabad on December 24, where they will celebrate their marriage with a larger group of family and friends.

PV Sindhu is known as one of India’s most accomplished athletes, boasting a remarkable collection of awards. Among her five World Championship medals is a historic gold won in 2019, making her the first Indian woman to achieve this milestone. Additionally, she secured an Olympic silver medal at the Rio 2016 Games and a bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In 2017, she reached a career-high world ranking of No. 2, solidifying her legacy in badminton.

Recently, Sindhu ended a title drought by winning the Syed Modi International in Lucknow, showcasing her lasting skill in badminton. Her wedding signifies a new chapter in her already remarkable journey.
