Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan recently took to Instagram to share a heartfelt birthday message for his son, Zoraver. Despite being unable to meet Zoraver for over two years, Dhawan's emotional post beautifully captured the love and distance between them.
"No matter the distance, even if we can’t connect as we once did, you will always be in my heart. Wishing you a year filled with madness, love, and happiness, Zora beta! (sic)," wrote Dhawan.
In 2023, Dhawan, who was previously married to Ayesha Mukherjee, was granted a divorce on the grounds of mental cruelty. The court determined that Ayesha had subjected Dhawan to emotional distress by enforcing a long-distance marriage and withholding access to their son for an extended period. Additionally, Ayesha failed to fulfill her promise of establishing a home in India after their marriage. Dhawan also accused Ayesha of pressuring him into transferring ownership of three properties in Australia to her.
Following the divorce, the court awarded Dhawan visitation rights with their son, Zoravar, in both India and Australia. Ayesha was instructed to facilitate their son's visits to India. Despite the court's orders, Dhawan has been unable to reunite with his son, whom they welcomed in 2014.
Dhawan was granted specific periods to visit Zoravar and engage in video calls with him. However, he disclosed that he had been blocked from all virtual communication platforms and had not seen his son in person for an extended period. Despite the challenges, Dhawan expressed his pride in Zoravar and encouraged him to embody qualities of humility, compassion, and strength.
In the midst of these circumstances, Dhawan continues to share photos of his son on social media, particularly on Zoravar's birthday and Father's Day.
