Two huge asteroids are coming very close to the Earth on Tuesday night. The US space agency NASA has issued an alert regarding this. Both the asteroids are much larger than the bodies that usually pass close to the Earth. These two asteroids known as 2024 LY2) and 2024 NH and are classified as building-size and airplane-size asteroids, respectively.
NASA has also given information about the impact of both asteroids on the Earth. Asteroids are those celestial bodies that revolve around the Sun in the solar system, but they are smaller than planets.
NASA said that asteroid 2024 LY2 is equal to the size of a huge building with a diameter of 290 feet or 88 meters. This asteroid coming near the Earth will reach a distance of 4,587,455 km. This distance is 12 times the distance between the Moon and the Earth. From the astronomical point of view, it is considered to pass very close to Earth. Scientists are keeping a close watch on this asteroid.
The second asteroid, 2024 NH, is about the size of a commercial airplane with around 92 feet in diameter. It will come slightly farther from Earth than (2024 LY2), with a closest approach of 3,130,000 miles. Despite its small size, its close position to Earth can provide important information to astronomers.
The asteroids are being monitored by NASA's Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS). It confirmed that the two celestial bodies -- 2024 LY2 and 2024 NH -- will not pose any risk of collision with Earth.
