Gurmeet Choudhary, one of the most loved actors on television, is known for his powerful performances, especially in Netflix’s Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein Season 2. However, what many may not know is that Gurmeet made a huge personal sacrifice to prepare for his role as Guru. For 18 months, he gave up sugar, roti, rice, and bread.

In an interview with Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiya on their YouTube channel, Gurmeet revealed how tough it was to stick to this strict diet. “It’s been 1.5 years since I’ve had sugar, roti, rice, or bread. It’s really tough, but you have to mentally prepare yourself for each role,” he shared. As a foodie, this change wasn’t easy for him. He ate only boiled food for over a year, eventually learning to appreciate its simplicity.

Besides his diet, Gurmeet follows a disciplined daily routine, waking up at 4 am and going to bed at 9:30 pm. He admitted that his body now rejects unhealthy foods, showing the lasting effects of his lifestyle change.

Gurmeet also shared personal moments about his wife, actress Debina Bonnerjee, and their two daughters. The couple met on the sets of Ramayan and got married. Gurmeet spoke about how his life changed after Debina came into it.

“After Debina and our daughters, I realised how important women are,” he said. He also mentioned his daily practice of touching his wife’s and daughters’ feet, as a sign of respect. “Women can do things that men can’t even imagine. My wife supported me when I had nothing. She is my everything,” he added.
