On Republic Day 2025 the police have issued a well-detailed advisory regarding traffic restrictions that are put in place for ensuring no hindrance to the proper execution of the grand parade at Kartavya Path.
Every year on Republic Day traffic is restricted due to security arrangements in the national capital territory and surrounding regions.

The Delhi Traffic Police have implemented the traffic measures according to its advisory since 9 PM on January 25, Saturday.
Delhi police traffic advisory for Republic Day 2025
Access to the national capital is restricted, allowing only essential vehicles to pass through, and these restrictions will remain in place until the Republic Day parade concludes.
The Republic Day parade will commence at 10:30 am on Sunday, starting from Vijay Chowk and proceeding along Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and ending at the Red Fort.
Traffic diversions will be implemented on all roads leading to the parade route from Vijay Chowk to the Red Fort. The C-Hexagon has been closed since 9:15 pm on Saturday, and commuters are advised to avoid the area.
Kartavya Path will be closed to all vehicles from 5 pm on Saturday until the parade ends. The same closure applies to Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Subhash Marg starting from 10:30 am. Travelers are urged to avoid areas along the parade route between 9:30 am and 1 pm on Sunday.
Passengers traveling from North Delhi to New Delhi and Old Delhi railway stations should account for potential delays and plan accordingly.
Metro services will operate as usual and will not be affected by the Republic Day celebrations.
Security arrangements for R-Day
Delhi police have planned a multi-level security arrangement in New Delhi, with over 70 paramilitary forces companies, over 15,000 police personnel, thousands of CCTVs, and AI-enabled cameras in the national capital.
The city will be closely monitored using drones, CCTV cameras, cars equipped with Facial Recognition Systems, and AI-powered cameras with a database designed to identify criminals, as part of a comprehensive security plan.
Delhi's borders and other critical areas will be barricaded to allow the police to check vehicle movement.
The Delhi Police have assured them that they are fully prepared to handle any situation and have put in place strong security measures to ensure smooth Republic Day celebrations.
Attendees of the parade will be given security stickers, and around 500 high-resolution AI-enabled cameras with Facial Recognition Systems will be installed along the parade route and surrounding areas. An official informed PTI that around 4,000 rooftop security points have been identified across the New Delhi, North, and Central districts as part of the security arrangements.
