In addition, the authorities are reportedly considering banning video recording at the beloved national landmark.
Delhi's most iconic monument, India Gate, has introduced a series of new regulations, changing the visitors' experience of this historic site. The new rules have been rolled out to preserve the lawn and monument area. Authorities have enforced a ban on products and regulate tour management inside the India Gate complex. In addition, they are reportedly considering banning video recording at the beloved national landmark.
India Gate's new rule: What’s no longer allowed
Under the new rule, the visitors are no longer allowed to carry food items, bags, bed sheets or even pets into the India Gate complex. The ban has led to confusion among visitors, as families have to split up, considering there is no facility to store belongings. One group waits outside the luggage while the other enters. It is a major shift from what was once be defining experience of a visit to India. The historical site will be under tighter security and maintenance control.
Why are new rules enforced at India Gate?
The decision is aimed at preserving the monument's aesthetics. The visitors’ long stay, food spillage and spread-out picnic gear have been damaging the newly restored landscaping on the site. According to the officials, the security and maintenance have been part of a broader effort to preserve the upgraded lawns and fresh grass. The massive footfall has been difficult to monitor, but with the new protective measures, it will ensure India Gate remains clean, green and aesthetically maintained.
What new facilities are expected for visitors?
Though no formal announcement has been made, the officials are looking forward to installing locker systems, where visitors can store their belongings. The overall experience of visiting the India Gate will soon be structured and environmentally conscious. Visitors would be asked to be more respectful towards the maintenance of the historical monument.
