Haryana introduces a stilt parking policy for houses with more than two floors to tackle residential parking issues, exempting three-storey houses.
In response to growing parking problems in Haryana, the state government has announced a new stilt parking policy. This policy aims to streamline parking facilities in residential areas and address the challenges caused by increasing numbers of vehicles. Under the new rules, houses with more than two floors will be required to have stilt parking. Similarly, four-storey houses will also need to provide stilt parking. However, three-storey houses are exempt from this requirement.
The Town and Country Planning Department is actively working on implementing this decision. To accommodate the new policy, changes will be made to the Building Code-2017. This step ensures that the rules align with the government's vision for better parking facilities.
Residents and stakeholders are invited to share their suggestions or raise concerns regarding the stilt parking policy. They have until February 1 to submit their views. After reviewing the feedback, the government will finalize the policy and implement the new rules with the approval of Chief Minister Naib Saini.
Once the policy is in effect, houses with more than two floors and separate flats will only be registered if they have stilt parking. Additionally, for plots larger than 500 square meters in the National Capital Region (NCR), information regarding construction or demolition must be provided through the DOST portal.
This initiative aims to create a more organized and efficient parking system, improving the overall living experience in residential areas across Haryana.
