Operation Sindoor Live Updates: The government said its actions have been 'focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature' and that 'no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted'.
The Indian Armed Forces on Wednesday launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, carrying out precision strikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), days after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the launch of Operation Sindoor, in response to the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack, the centre on Thursday convened an all-party meeting to brief political parties on its action against terrorism. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also chaired a high-level meeting on Thursday with Secretaries of various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India to review national preparedness and inter-ministerial coordination in light of recent developments concerning national security.
Shortly after the confirmation of military strikes in Pakistan, Indian Army said in a post on X “Justice is served. Jai Hind!”.
Throughout the night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had vowed stern action to the terror assault in Baisaran, kept a close eye on Operation Sindoor.
During a briefing on Operation Sindoor, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that the Indian military had chosen the targets due to their involvement in terrorist activities and strong intelligence inputs. Col. Qureshi added that the operation did not target any of Pakistan's military facilities.

"Pakistan is currently completely rattled, especially after we struck their nine terror camps. Last night, they attempted to launch an attack on 15 cities by combining missiles and drones. However, our S-400 system, which is the world's best air defence system that we acquired from Russia, completely thwarted their intentions and demonstrated India's immense power, particularly in terms of air defence..." Pathania said.
"We have always played the role of a responsible nation. We have always been in favour of resolving problems through dialogue. But this does not mean that anyone should take unfair advantage of our patience. If anyone tries to take advantage of our patience, then they will have to be fully prepared to face 'quality action' just like yesterday...We are prepared for such a responsible response in the future as well", Singh said.

India said, "On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems."

As part of a nationwide civil defence drill, the Amritsar district administration has resumed blackout measures to ensure public safety and preparedness, the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) said on Wednesday. "Taking utmost caution, the Amritsar district administration has again started the blackout process. Please stay at home, do not panic and do not gather outside your houses; keep the outside lights switched off," the Amritsar DPRO said in a statement.
