Selena Gomez breaks down, cries after Donald Trump's immigration crackdown, later deletes post: Watch

Singer and actress Selena Gomez was seen crying days after former US President Donald Trump decided to deport illegal immigrants. She posted a tearful video on her Instagram Stories, which was later removed.

In the video, Selena, dressed in a black outfit, appeared to be recording from her home. The clip was later shared by a user on X (formerly Twitter), @SELENAT0RSARMY. In the clip, she said, "I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry. All my people are getting attacked. The children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise."

Selena also added the text “I’m sorry” along with a Mexican flag to her Instagram Stories. The video, which was widely shared on social media, sparked criticism from some users. One person tweeted, "There is a legal way to come into the United States. Why don’t they try that?"

One comment read, "It’s 2025, are we seriously still grabbing our phones to record ourselves crying???" Meanwhile, another user defended Selena, saying, "People laughing at her are so disgusting. Mind you, her people are getting deported, including children. She has the right to cry. She comes from Mexican immigrant parents. She was given an opportunity. We love you, Selena."

A fan also tweeted, "This is heartbreaking. Can you let the woman express her emotions?? Imagine being a big artist and not being able to do anything for her people; she must feel devastated."

Later, Selena posted a message on her Instagram Stories that said, "Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people," but she soon deleted it. In 2019, Selena produced a Netflix documentary titled Living Undocumented, which focused on the issue of immigration and followed the lives of eight undocumented immigrant families living in the US during the Trump administration.
