Social media sensation and fashion influencer Anushka Hazra recently opened up on her battle against fibroadenoma- a noncancerous breast lump.
On her official YouTube channel, Hazra shared how she discovered the disease and what treatments she underwent in order to cure the same.
"One fine day, I was taking a shower and I realised that there is a lump in one of my breasts. For a while, I thought that it's one of those PMS conditions, which a lot of you girlies relate to. Sometimes, before our periods, our breasts do feel a little sore and lumpy", she said.
Assuming it a PMS condition, she further remarked that it eventually started getting bigger and developed aches. She also mentioned how the unexpected occurrence of the same took a toll on her mental health, leaving her anxious and exhausted at the same time.
"It was just affecting my mental health to such an extent that I was getting bad thoughts. Every time I would google, I would only come across like the worst of results", Hazra stated.
Anushka Hazra further shared that as the lump started getting even worse, she visited a nearby hospital and got a ultrasonography (USG) done.
"It is not as cool and simple as it sounds when you have to get an USG done, for a condition like this when you're only expecting the worst and second, when it is for your private area like breasts", she said.
Hazra further said that the doctors recommended her to receive a proper treatment from a specialised doctor.
She remarked that the doctors even refrained from giving an assurance to her that it was not cancerous.
Hazra further shared that the cancer specialists, whom she visited, asked her to get a proper cancer test done, which is called - Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC).
"That was the biggest shocker of my life, the worst news that I've ever heard in my life", she remarked.
"Physically, it has been the most painful thing I've ever had to go through", she added.
Anushka Hazra further revealed that the test reports came out negative, after which she and her parents breathed a sigh of relief.
Alongside medications, Hazra said, she had to undergo some lifestyle changes to fight out the condition.
What is fibroadenoma?
A fibroadenoma is a non-cancerous breast lump. In very rare case, it may contain cancer. It is quite common among women and usually occurs between the age of 15 to 35, health experts opine.
Although, health experts are still clueless about why it occurs in some women. But many reckon that the condition happens due to hormonal imbalance.
Symptoms
If you experience a lump in either or both of your breats, it may be a sign of fibroadenoma. The lumps can be as small as a pea or even get bigger as a golf ball.
Prevention
In many cases, it often shrinks or go away without treatments. However, it is recommended to visit a doctor and get a proper examination done.
