Yash's Toxic slammed for illegal tree felling, issued show-cause notice

Yash’s much-awaited Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, got in the soup for environmental violations. They are issued show-notice for allegedly illegal cutting of hundreds of trees on forestland with the Hindustan Machine Tools(HMT) premises in Peenya, Bengaluru. Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar B Khandre confirmed that the notice has been served to the filmmakers, and further action will be taken based on their response. 

Khandre claimed that officials sought approval to denotify land without getting the Cabinet's green light. To address this, the minister proposed withdrawing the Interlocutory Application (IA), and the Cabinet has already given its ex-post facto approval to do so. Now, the next step will be taken after reviewing the filmmakers' responses.

Back in October 2024, Khandre ordered Forest Department officials to take immediate legal action against those responsible for the tree-cutting after visiting the site. He emphasized that this was a serious violation, stating that hundreds of trees were removed without permission, and strict legal repercussions would be sought. 

So far, the makers of Toxic have not yet issued a response or reaction to the ongoing legal trouble. 

Toxic is jointly produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, and is directed by Geetu Mohandas. The first teaser of the film has already created a stir, showcasing Yash in a bold and unconventional avatar. He's seen making a stylish entrance in a club, dressed in a crisp white suit, and fedora, and holding a cigar, exuding an air of extravagance. 

Set against the backdrop of Goa, Toxic delves into a gripping narrative that exposes the dark underbelly of a powerful drug cartel.  The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, and Huma Qureshi alongside Yash.  The action-packed thriller is expected to hit theatres in December 2025.
