This violent film has beaten Pushpa 2, Baby John at box office, screen count went up to 1360 from 89 in 15 days

Pushpa 2 emerged as one of the highest grosser shattering several box office records. Allu Arjun's film dominated the box office starting December 5, 2024, with no other film able to surpass its success. However, a Malayalam film emerged as a strong contender. The film we are talking about is Unni Mukundan's action-packed film Marco. 

Released 15 days after Pushpa 2, Marco was initially showcased in just 89 screens. The film’s massive popularity expanded it to 1360 screens within 15 days. The Malayalam-language film not only recovered its budget but also marched towards crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in just 15 days, winning hearts and surprising the box office.

The latest blockbuster has been witnessing remarkable success at the box office, with both its Malayalam and Hindi versions performing exceptionally well. Encouraged by this response, the filmmakers have expanded the screen count from 89 to 1360, setting the stage for a monumental milestone. As a result, Marco is poised to cross Rs 100 crores by the first weekend of 2025.

Marco's box office success continues to soar, with worldwide earnings exceeding Rs 80 crores. In India, the film's Hindi version opened strongly with Rs 4.3 crores, while the Malayalam version contributed significantly to the overall collections. Consequently, its total Indian collection stands at Rs 45.75 crores, with Malayalam contributing Rs 37.92 crores, Hindi: Rs 5.73 crores and Telugu: Rs 2.1 crores respectively. 

Talking about Marco and Pushpa 2 success, actor Unni recently said that both the film appealed to masses for its content.  “I think these (Pushpa 2 and Marco) are the best of the lot. It’s the content and the way that Pushpa 2 was made (which helped in its reach); same is the case with Marco. There are a lot of other movies that are made on a big scale, but they don’t get this reach. The audiences are now smart enough to understand that some films might have a big budget, but they don’t connect with them. So, it’s eventually the content that determines if a film is worthy to be marketed as well,” he told Zoom.

Marco, helmed by director Hanif Adeni, boasts an ensemble cast, including Unni Mukundan, Jagdish, Siddiqui, Anson Paul, Yukti Thareeja, Sreejith Ravi, and Kabir Duhan Singh in pivotal roles. Audiences who have watched the film describe it as a gripping action entertainer, packed with intense and brutal action sequences.
