In the deleted scene, we see Gabbar Singh, the film’s villain played by Amjad Khan, acting even more violent and cruel than in the final version of the movie.
Sholay, released in 1975, is one of the most famous and loved films in Indian cinema. Directed by Ramesh Sippy, it stars Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, and Amjad Khan. The movie is known for its action, powerful dialogues, and unforgettable characters, making it a classic that continues to be loved by audiences today. Recently, an unseen scene from the film, which was cut by the Censor Board back then, has resurfaced after 49 years, giving fans a new look at the film.
In the deleted scene, we see Gabbar Singh, the film’s villain played by Amjad Khan, acting even more violent and cruel than in the final version of the movie. In this scene, Gabbar drags Ahmed (played by Sachin Pilgaonkar) by his hair, showing his dangerous side in a much harsher way. This moment was cut before the film was released because it was considered too violent for the audience at the time. The Censor Board thought it might be too much for viewers, so they decided to remove it.
The newly discovered footage was shared by the Old Is Gold Instagram account, where it quickly went viral. Fans were excited to see the scene, many of whom didn’t know it existed. The scene adds more depth to Gabbar’s character, making him seem even more frightening. The tension in the scene, with Gabbar’s gang of dacoits in the background, only increases the drama.
This discovery also takes us back to the strict rules of censorship that were common in the past. The Censor Board often cut scenes from films if they thought they were too violent or disturbing. Despite this, Sholay became a massive success and remains one of the most loved films in Bollywood.
