CM Reddy has urged actors to work closely with the police to maintain peace and prevent tragic incidents like the Pushpa 2 stampede.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has extended his government's full support to the Telugu film industry while stressing that maintaining law and order is non-negotiable. This assurance came after a meeting with top industry figures, including actors Akkineni Nagarjuna and Daggubati Venkatesh, as well as producers Allu Aravind and Dil Raju, in the wake of the Pushpa 2 stampede incident.
A high-profile meeting took place today at the ICCC building in Hyderabad, where several prominent film producers and directors met with Reddy, who emphasized the industry's responsibility in preventing tragic incidents like the stampede on December 4. He stressed that members of the industry should have acted more responsibly to prevent the stampede. He also highlighted the importance of celebrities controlling their fans.
CM Reddy has urged actors to work closely with the police to maintain peace and prevent tragic incidents like the Pushpa 2 stampede, which resulted in the death of a woman and left her son with severe brain injuries. He has taken a strong stance against such incidents, banning benefit shows and special movie screenings in the state. He also issued a stern warning to private security personnel working with actors, emphasizing the need for responsible behaviour.
Following the meeting, Dil Raju, Chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation, revealed that CM envisioned Hyderabad as a hub for both Indian and Hollywood film productions, and sought input from industry representatives on the necessary infrastructure and arrangements to make this a reality. He praised the meeting, calling it "one of the best" and expressing gratitude for the CM's support and vision for taking Telugu cinema to new heights. He also hinted at a follow-up meeting to discuss proposals, indicating a commitment to continued dialogue and cooperation between the government and the film industry.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun's attendance at the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre on December 4 turned chaotic when he waved to fans from his car's sunroof, leading to a massive crowd surge. Tragically, this resulted in the death of Revathi and injuries to her child.
Following the incident, Allu Arjun was arrested and later released on bail after furnishing a Rs 50,000 bond. The Hyderabad police questioned him on Tuesday regarding the incident.
The tragedy has sparked political controversy, with CM Reddy blaming the actor, stating that police had denied permission for the event due to safety concerns. However, the actor dismissed the allegations, calling them an attempt at "character assassination".
