Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule has defeated SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion at the global box office.
Pushpa 2: The Rule continues to dominate the global box office. The blockbuster sequel, which is written and directed by Sukumar, has Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil reprising their roles as Pushpa Raj, Srivalli, and Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat from the first part Pushpa: The Rise released in 2021.
The action drama has now beaten SS Rajamouli and Prabhas' Baahubali 2: The Conclusion to become the second highest-grossing Indian film ever. Baahubali 2 had earned Rs 1788 crore at the global box office in 2017. The production house Mythri Movie Makers had announced that Pushpa 2 has earned Rs 1760 crore by December 30.
On December 31 and January 1 on the New Year holidays, the Allu Arjun-film added Rs 29 crore to its domestic collections, as per the entertainment tracking portal Sacnilk. This means that the Sukumar film has gone past Baahubali 2 now. Now, Pushpa 2 is just behind Aamir Khan and Nitesh Tiwari's Dangal, the highest-grossing Indian film ever with its worldwide collections of Rs 2070 crore.
Pushpa 2 has remained the first choice of the moviegoers even after the release of multiple movies across languages. These include Varun Dhawan's Baby John in Hindi, Mufasa: The Lion King in English, Kiccha Sudeep's Max in Kannada, Mohanlal's Barroz and Unni Mukundan-starrer Marco in Malayalam.
The Sukumar directorial is still receiving overwhelming response from the audiences, who have gone gaga over Allu Arjun's performance, solid action set pieces, and massy elevation scenes. Its duration of 3 hours and 20 minutes and impractical climax sequence are being criticised too. Pushpa 2: The Rule will be followed by Pushpa 3: The Rampage.
