The wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant had the world watching. The son of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani wed his childhood sweetheart in a lavish ten-day long celebration that concluded in Mumbai on Monday. But the pre-wedding festivities had continued for four months prior to the big day. Over these months, several international superstars performed at the events and attended the wedding. Many were paid in crores but one of them took the cake with a Rs 83-crore paycheck.

Pop sensation Justin Bieber was goaded out of semi-retirement to perform at the sangeet ceremony of Anant and Radhika held in Mumbai on July 10. The Canadian star reportedly charged $10 million (Rs 83 crore) to perform at the sangeet ceremony, where he crooned several of his chartbusters and enthralled a crowd of Ambani family, friends, and Bollywood A-listers. Bieber flew to India in a private jet and once here, he was given a special car and motorcade by Mukesh Ambani for his commute. The billionaire also provided Bieber with his private security as well as police personnel.

Other international celebs at Anant-Radhika’s wedding

In March, Rihanna had performed at the pre-wedding festivities held in Jamnagar, for which she reportedly charged $6 million (Rs 50 crore). Shakira was the star attraction at yet another pre-wedding celebration held aboard a cruise ship off the southern coast of Europe the same month. The Colombian star also charged several million dollars. The wedding festivities saw other international singers like Rema and Luis Fonzi, both of whom charged $3 million (Rs 25 crore). Among the guests at the wedding were socialite sisters Kim and Khloe Kardashian, as well as wrestler-turned-Hollywood star John Cena.
