UPSC CSE interview 2024 begins today: Candidates should know these points to ace personality test

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will begin its interview round for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) Mains 2024 from Tuesday, January 7, which will continue until April 17, 2025. 

The interview phase will witness a total of 2,845 candidates who have passed the UPSC CSE Mains 2024 exam. This phase is the most important and decisive stage of the entire UPSC CSE exam. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of their personality, decision-making abilities, and suitability for being considered for the most prestigious career in the country.

Essential points for clearing UPSC interview 

The interview stage after the Mains exam by UPSC assesses a candidate entirely-their communication and decision-making skills, personality, etc. SO these points will help a candidate in improving their chances of getting selected. 

Be calm 

Staying calm is the key as the panelists also judge the way a candidate answers, if shown panic, they may doubt your thinking abilities. Also, taking a pause before speaking also shows confidence.  

Be on time 

Being punctual shows discipline, which is one of the most important virtues of a public officer. One should arrive at least half an hour before the given time, in order to avoid delays and being mentally ready to give the interview.  

Dress appropriate for the interview 

What a candidate wears gives an impression of their being serious and professional about the matter at hand. A formal attire is always appropriate and safe to wear on such occasions. For men, well-ironed shirt and pants along with a tie and suit will work. For women, outfits like saree, a western official attire or a salwar suit would also work.  

Be honest while answering 

Candidates should politely admit that they don't know an answer as that shows their honesty in the whole process, which is taken as a good quality when considering one for a job in civil services.
