In Pics: Kumar Vishwas’ new home built with ‘vedic plaster’ to keep cool in summers, inspired by this book

Kumar Vishwas is a person of simplicity whose poetry explores the significance of nature and environment. So is his personal life where he prefers to remain close to nature. His new house is an apt example of earthen living which sits in a vast farmland in his ancestral village in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. Its unique qualities are surprising.  

What is surprising is that Kumar Vishwas’ home is not designed by any interior designer nor it boasts of any modern technology. It even has a name and is called KV Kutirr, which perfectly go along with its unique structure made of only natural materials.  

He says that his home is a result of ‘satsang’. His home has influence from EB Havell’s Indian Architecture which has details about traditional craftsmanship and constructing homes in a similar manner. So, he ordered his chief mason to build his home similar to what the author mentioned.  

Replying to a user, Vishwas tweeted that his house is not made of cement but from vedic plaster house is made from yellow clay, sand, cow dung, various types of lentil husks, lime, and remnants of trees like amla, lisoha, gular, shisham, etc. These materials were used to build homes in ancient times. He even has artwork on the walls.  

Built with natural materials, Vishwas’ new home can control temperature, that is, keeps cool in even harsh summer. His home is anti-bacterial. As KV Kutirr overlooks vast farmland it receives fresh air and is surrounded by natural beauty. He has built a garden full of fruits which also has a sculpture of Godess Saraswati.  

As KV Kutirr boasts of natural aspects, it also has a beautiful pond with ducks swimming in it, with many fishes. The vicinity also houses a sculpture of Lord Buddha.  

His vast garden around his home has a big statue of a hand holding a ‘kalam’ dipped in ink pot, showcasing his love for art, literature, writing and words.  (Images taken from @kvkutirr).
