EDUCATION
In order to provide for her family, she started giving tuition classes. She started working as a child to pay for her schooling.
A sizable number of Indians take the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination each year. But a lot of people lose hope after failing one of the hardest exams in India. However, some candidates never give up and succeed in passing the UPSC exam. This is the tale of Ummul Kher, who overcame all obstacles to realise her dream of holding the most prominent position in the nation.
Ummul, a native of Rajasthan, was raised in the Trilokpuri slum of Delhi. In the past, her father worked as a clothes salesman. Ummul had a fragile bone disease from an early age. Ummul had eight surgeries and at least sixteen fractures as a result of the severe disease. She didn't have a good financial situation in the house either. She still desired a more stable life and to aim high despite these difficulties.
In order to provide for her family, she started giving tuition classes. She started working as a child to pay for her schooling. With the assistance of an NGO, she was able to finish her education up to Class 10.
Her family did not want her to continue her education after Class 10. She fled her house and took up residence in the slums, where she studied for her Class 12 diploma. She overcame all obstacles to achieve an outstanding 91% in her Class 12 academics. Later on, she graduated from Delhi University's Gargi College with a degree.
At that point, she decided to enrol in JNU's School of International Studies to pursue her MA. She then set her sights higher and was accepted into the same university's MPhil/PhD program. She started her rigorous UPSC exam preparation at the same time. She achieved her goal of becoming an IAS officer and was rewarded for her efforts when she received an All India Rank (AIR) of 420.
