Dr Vikas Divyakirti is a highly regarded educator specialising in UPSC exam preparation. He has garnered significant popularity on social media, particularly Instagram, where numerous dedicated pages share short clips of his lectures. His personal YouTube channel boasts an impressive 2.95 million subscribers, while his coaching institute, Drishti IAS, has over 11 million followers.
Dr Divyakirti married Taruna Verma in 1998, who holds a PhD and serves as the Director of Drishti IAS.
Taruna has also cultivated a following on Instagram, with 65.5K followers.
Born on December 26, 1973, in Haryana, Dr. Divyakirti was raised in a middle-class family. His father was a prominent Hindi literature professor at Maharishi Dayanand University, and his mother worked as a PGT teacher in Bhiwani. He has two elder brothers—one is a software engineer in the United States, while the other serves as a DIG at the CBI.
Dr Divyakirti received his early education at Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Bhiwani before pursuing a BA in Hindi at Zakir Husain Delhi College, part of Delhi University. He furthered his academic credentials with postgraduate degrees in both English and Hindi, along with MPhil and PhD qualifications. This robust educational background has established him as one of India's most qualified professors for UPSC aspirants.
After completing his education, Dr Divyakirti began teaching at Delhi University while simultaneously preparing for the UPSC exams. In 1996, he achieved an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 384 on his first attempt. Although he briefly worked at the Ministry of Home Affairs, his passion for teaching led him to establish Drishti IAS in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, in 1999.
Taruna Verma plays an integral role in the success of Drishti IAS as its Director. With her own academic achievements and leadership skills, she contributes significantly to the institute's mission of providing quality education to aspiring civil servants.
