Meet a child prodigy from Himachal Pradesh, who became the world’s youngest surgeon at 7 and continues to inspire with his groundbreaking medical research.
It is often said that talent alone doesn’t guarantee success; it takes effort and discipline to turn talent into remarkable achievements. The story of Akrit Pran Jaswal, a gifted boy from Himachal Pradesh, exemplifies this perfectly. Known as the “world’s youngest surgeon,” Akrit made headlines for performing surgery at the tender age of seven.
Born on April 23, 1993, in Nurpur, Himachal Pradesh, Akrit’s extraordinary abilities were evident from a young age. By 10 months, he could walk and talk, and by the time he was two, he was already able to read and write. At an age when most children are still learning basic skills, Akrit was leaving people amazed by reading English classics.
His talent gained global attention when Akrit performed surgery on an 8-year-old burn victim at just seven years old, earning him the title of the “world’s youngest surgeon.” This feat marked the beginning of his journey as a medical prodigy.
By the age of 12, Akrit was recognized as India’s “youngest university student.” With an IQ of 146, his brilliance captured international attention, including an appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show. At this young age, he began scientific research at Chandigarh University and later studied bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. By 17, Akrit was pursuing a master’s degree in chemistry, further demonstrating his commitment to academic excellence.
Akrit has been deeply involved in cancer research and has received mentorship from esteemed professionals, including the Chairman of Secondary Education in Dharamshala. His dedication to groundbreaking medical studies continues to inspire people worldwide.
Akrit’s journey shows that age is no barrier to achieving greatness. His story is a powerful reminder that with passion, hard work, and belief in one’s abilities, incredible achievements are possible.
