EDUCATION
Pranay’s father Bharat wasn’t sure if he could help fulfill his son’s dream, given the family's financial situation.
There is no denying the fact that the IIT JEE entrance exam is one of the toughest exams not only in India but in the world too. Every year lakhs of students from different parts of India sit in the IIT JEE entrance exam to crack the exam and secure a seat in IIT. But only a few thousand of the brightest minds succeed in clearing the IIT JEE entrance exam. Today, we highlight the extraordinary journey of Pranay Machchi, who cracked JEE (Advanced) and secured a spot in the prestigious IIT.
Pranay Machchi, a 17-year-old rickshaw driver’s son, overcame many obstacles in life to secure a spot at IIT-Goa and clear the world’s second toughest exam - JEE (advanced), without attending any private coaching sessions.
Pranay always dreamt of becoming an engineer. Forget about the expensive coaching class; paying for schooling was a difficult financial burden for the family. Pranay just used online resources and self-study to fulfill his dream.
"With lakhs of people taking the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), everyone thought I would require full-time coaching to pass it. I decided to pursue it alone because my family was unable to pay the tuition. I passed one of the hardest tests in the nation because I put in a lot of effort and had confidence in myself," he told TOI.
Panay, a student at Danteshwar's Baroda High School (BHS), started preparing for the JEE in Class 11 after scoring 86% in his Class 12 board exams. to navigate the challenging entrance exam studies, he relied on online resources and the support of his school and the Mahavir Foundation.
“Of course, the entrance exam studies were tough, but I got the support from my school as well as Mahavir Foundation. I used to study online for JEE preparations,” he added. Pranay’s father Bharat wasn't sure if he could support his son in fulfilling his dream because of the family's financial circumstances.
Recognizing the importance of continuous learning and global exposure, Pranay has secured a spot in the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and currently pursuing Computer Science Engineering.
