For Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) aspirants, the interview stage is the final frontier they must successfully cross to claim the coveted Civil Services. After years of toil, they now face the onerous task of appearing before a panel of senior, accomplished individuals.
Union Public Service Commission is the most prestigious and therefore, one of the most difficult exam in India. With three stages to pass the exam, the interview stage scares the aspirants the most. However, for IAS Anudeep Durishetty, the Personality test in the UPSC exam is the most easiest. He shares some tips for the aspirants to excel.
1. Content should be the main focus
What content you choose for your answer makes more difference than how you look. Being presentable and allow the content of your answers reveal your personality will work for you more.
2. Utilize panel's questions to show personality
When the panel would ask questions, use those opportunities to reveal about yourself, as, the board members seek more information about the candidate during the personality test.
IAS Anudeep Durishetty, makes a distinction between Mains and interview round. He says that in mains the answers reflects the opinion of a committee or some expert to make an argument and in the personality test the answers should be personal as that is judged on the basis of the candidate's personality.
3. Make no pre-conceive notion
Approach each interview with an open mind, focusing on the questions themselves rather than making assumptions about the interview board. Ignore statistics and past trends, as they can be distracting and unhelpful.
4. Don't worry about your past responses
According to, Durishetty, self-evaluation during an interview harms your ongoing course. It can make you nervous as a result of which you will lose your focus.
5. Choose the right moments to turn your answers into discussions
Durishetty tells candidates to try and provide more depth to their answers rather than giving a flat or standard answer. This will help elevate the discussion more productively and keep the panelists engage.
