New Year's Eve: All about Delhi Police's traffic advisory; know routes to avoid and metro timings

The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory for New Year’s Eve celebrations on December 31, urging people to follow guidelines to ensure smooth traffic and public safety. Popular spots like Connaught Place, India Gate, and Hauz Khas are expected to attract large crowds.

To manage the situation, around 2,500 Delhi Traffic Police personnel will be deployed, along with 250 teams to monitor drunken driving. Additional patrol teams on motorcycles and foot have also been arranged.

Starting at 8 PM on New Year’s Eve, vehicles without valid passes will not be allowed to enter Connaught Place’s inner, middle, or outer circles. Key entry points, including Mandi House and Bengali Market, will have restrictions. Designated parking areas near Gole Dak Khana, Patel Chowk, and Mandi House will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Unauthorised vehicles risk towing and penalties.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that Rajiv Chowk Metro Station will restrict passenger exit from 9 PM onwards on December 31. Entry will remain open until the last train. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance.

Travellers heading to New Delhi Railway Station are advised to use Ram Manohar Lohiya Park Street, Mandir Marg, or Rani Jhansi Road to avoid congestion. Police have also urged people to avoid Bhairon Road and Mathura Road between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Pragati Maidan.

Delhi Police advises citizens to cooperate with the measures and use public transport, especially the metro, to ensure hassle-free travel and safe celebrations.
