The recent encounter between Vinod Kambli and Sachin Tendulkar in Mumbai last month garnered a lot of interest on social media. Kambli, who appeared to be in poor health, has been receiving treatment for brain clots at Akruti Hospital in Thane for two weeks.

In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Vinod Kambli praised Sachin's son Arjun Tendulkar, calling him a 'gifted cricketer'. Arjun, who was acquired by the Mumbai Indians for Rs 30 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction, has formed a deep bond with Kambli's family and frequently spends time with his kid, Jesus Christiano.

Vinod Kambli and Sachin Tendulkar have had a long-standing connection from their days at Shardashram Vidyamandir School, where they achieved a record partnership of 664 runs. Kambli stressed the closeness of their relationship, adding, "If Sachin is right, I am left."

During the interview, Kambli also discussed his achievements in first-class cricket, claiming that he accomplished exploits that even Sachin Tendulkar could not. He recalled times when he surpassed Tendulkar, such as striking a six off the first ball, pointing out that although he was aggressive, Sachin liked to defend on the first delivery. He said, "Mai first ball khela aur first ball six tha, Sachin nahi kar sakta that. Wo defense karta tha."

Meanwhile, Kambli was spotted dancing to the title track of Shah Rukh Khan's Chak De India while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Thane, Maharashtra. His lively performance in the hospital room wowed his followers and admirers. Several former cricketers, including former captains Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, have shown their support for Vinod Kambli.

In an interview with India Today, Gavaskar stated that the 1983 World Cup-winning squad is willing to assist Kambli in his recovery.

Kambli played 17 Tests for India, accumulating 1,084 runs at an average of 54. He also competed in 106 One Day Internationals and was a member of the 1996 World Cup team.
