Before the conference began, a private conversation between Rohit and Agarkar was caught on camera and quickly went viral on social media
Mumbai witnessed a buzzing press conference on Saturday as India captain Rohit Sharma and men's selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar unveiled the 15-member squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy. However, it wasn’t just the team announcement that grabbed headlines.
According to reports, before the conference began, a private conversation between Rohit and Agarkar was caught on camera and quickly went viral on social media. In the video, Rohit can be heard discussing new travel guidelines with Agarkar, mentioning an upcoming meeting with the BCCI secretary. He also expressed players' concerns about the rules, saying, "Ab mere ko baithna padega secretary ke saath. Family, wamily ka discuss karne ke liye, sab mere ko bol rahe hai yaar."

The controversy stems from a recently introduced 10-point policy following India's series loss to Australia. A key rule restricts players’ families from joining them for more than 14 days on long tours without coach Gautam Gambhir’s approval.
When questioned about the guidelines, Rohit dodged specifics, stating, “Who told you about these rules? Let it come officially.” Agarkar, however, confirmed that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) had been drafted.
Explaining the need for the guidelines, Agarkar said, “Every team has rules. It’s not a school or punishment. These are protocols to help the team grow closer and improve together.” He added that while some players view the rules as long-standing, adherence is crucial when representing the nation.
