Ravindra Jadeja recently displayed his remarkable talent in the Ranji Trophy while playing for Saurashtra against the Delhi cricket team. Even with other prominent players like Rishabh Pant on the field, it was Jadeja who truly captured attention with his stellar performance.
Jadeja's impressive achievement included taking a total of 12 wickets, featuring a five-wicket haul in Delhi's first innings and seven wickets in the second. Notably, he dismissed Rishabh Pant in both innings, reaching a significant milestone of 550 wickets in first-class cricket. This match marked Jadeja's return to the Ranji Trophy after a two-year break, where he recorded his 36th five-wicket haul in red-ball cricket.
Additionally, Jadeja's outstanding form was underscored by his third consecutive five-wicket haul in the Ranji Trophy, contributing to his impressive tally of over 550 wickets and more than 7500 runs in first-class cricket.
In contrast, Rishabh Pant struggled to make an impact for Delhi, managing only 1 run in the first innings and 17 in the second.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma's performance in the match was underwhelming, with scores of 3 and 28 in the two innings. Although he showed some promise during his 28-run innings in Mumbai's second outing, Rohit's inconsistent form in first-class cricket raises questions about his position in the Test team.
After a promising start to their second innings, Mumbai experienced a sudden collapse. Despite a strong fifty-run opening partnership, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal were swiftly dismissed. Hardik Tamore continued his poor form, and Iyer was eventually out after benefiting from a mistaken call by the umpire. Mumbai's troubles worsened with Shivam Dube being dismissed for a second consecutive duck. In the first innings, Iyer only managed to score 11 runs.
