'Paid dogs bark': Harbhajan Singh drops bombshell with cryptic post on social media

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh posted a bizarre message on social media on Thursday. He stated his thoughts subtly by using a Hindi idiom. The translation of his Hindi post was, "When an elephant walks through the market, paid dogs bark." Fans speculated in the comments section as to why the former off-spinner sent the remark.

Earlier this month, Harbhajan Singh urged the BCCI to stop the "superstar culture" inside the Indian team, calling for player selection based only on performance rather than notoriety.

His scathing remarks came after India's 1-3 Test series loss to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, their first defeat in ten years.

"There is a superstar culture which has developed. We don't need superstars, we need performers. If the team has them (performers), it will move forward. Whoever wants to become a superstar should stay at home and play cricket there," the spin great said on his Youtube channel.

"There is a tour of England coming up. Now everyone has started talking about what will happen in England, who will go, who will not go. For me, it is a simple matter. Only players who are performing should go. You can't keep picking players on their reputation.

"If you do that, then you should take Kapil Dev sir and Anil bhai also. Here, the BCCI and the selectors will have to be firm and act tough. I don't think that the superstar attitude is taking the team forward."

Rohit Sharma, captain and big guns like Virat Kohli had a terrible time in the last Test series against Australia. That loss meant the team was denied an opportunity to qualify for the World Test Championship final. Over nine innings, Kohli scored just 190 runs in the series and gave catches to the slip fielders or to the wicketkeeper.

Harbhajan advised that players who are struggling should play some sort of domestic cricket to showcase their abilities if they want to be chosen for the England Test tour.
