'Oye Konstas! Shots nahi lag rahe kya?': Yashasvi Jaiswal sledges Aussie opener in Hindi on Day 2 of Sydney Test - Watch

Australian opener Sam Konstas found himself in a tense situation on Day 2 at the Sydney Cricket Ground when he provoked Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah. The tension escalated following a heated exchange between Bumrah and the young Konstas towards the end of Day 1. Following this incident Bumrah was visibly fired up and quickly dismissed Usman Khawaja on the next delivery celebrating in front of Konstas.

The Indian team maintained their intensity on Day 2 not allowing Konstas to settle and applying pressure on him. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young Indian opener who had a previous altercation with Konstas during the MCG Test decided to retaliate at the SCG by sledging him from the slip cordon. However, it appeared that Jaiswal forgot that Konstas does not understand Hindi.

Jaiswal sledged Konstas in Hindi and said, “Kya ho gya ab shot nahi dikh rahe kya (What happened? unable to see the shots now?). Oye Konstas, shots nahi lag rahe kya abhi (Hey Konstas, unable to play shots now?).”

The incident left former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan amused in the commentary box, while the video of the event went viral on X, previously known as Twitter.

Meanwhile, Jaiswal played a pivotal role in dismissing Konstas later in the day by taking a crucial catch at gully. Mohammed Siraj bowled a delivery that forced an edge from Konstas' bat and Jaiswal made no mistake in safely securing the catch. Following Konstas' dismissal Australia struggled under pressure and lost two more wickets during the session.

Travis Head was dismissed for four runs just three balls after Konstas, with a thick edge that was comfortably caught by KL Rahul at second slip, leaving Australia reeling at 39-4.

Steve Smith and Webster then steadied the innings with a partnership of 57 runs for the fifth wicket. However, Smith was removed just as lunch approached falling short of both his 10,000th test run and a well-deserved meal break.

Prasidh Krishna, filling in for the injured Akash Deep got Smith to defend on his back foot resulting in the ball flying to the slips where Rahul once again took a crucial catch. Smith's hard-fought 33 runs left him just five runs shy of the 10,000-run milestone.

In an explosive display, Rishabh Pant smashed the second fastest Indian Test half-century on Saturday propelling his team to a 145-run lead with four wickets remaining after a thrilling day two of the decisive fifth Test against Australia.
