Bangladesh faced difficulties in their chase and were eventually bowled out for 76 in 18.3 overs.
India clinched a commanding 41-run victory over Bangladesh in the final of the inaugural Women's U-19 Asia Cup, which took place at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday. Opting to bat first after losing the toss India managed to post a total of 117 for seven. Bangladesh faced difficulties in their chase and were eventually bowled out for 76 in 18.3 overs.
Bangladesh's pacer Farjana Easmin instilled fear in the hearts of Indian fans with her impressive bowling performance in the final match. She claimed 4 crucial wickets of the Indian top and middle order shattering the team's morale and preventing any stable partnerships from forming.
Easmin conceded a total of 31 runs in her four-over spell maintaining a solid economy rate of 7.75.
India faced a shaky start from the outset. Even the rising star G Kamalini failed to leave a mark in this crucial match. The team kept losing wickets in quick succession, dimming hopes of setting a challenging total. However, opener Gongadi Trisha stood firm, scoring a quick 50 off 43 balls.
Trisha's half-century propelled India past the 100-run mark, setting up a competitive total to defend against the Bangladeshi batters. Unfortunately, Trisha was dismissed by Farjana Easmin in the 16th over after scoring 52 runs.
In their chase, Bangladesh's opener, Fahimda Choya, contributed 18 runs, while Mosammat Eva was dismissed for a duck. The skipper, Sumaiya Akther, also struggled to reach double digits.
Juairiya Ferdous emerged as the top scorer among the Bangladesh batters, accumulating 22 runs off 30 balls. However, their efforts were in vain as the middle order crumbled against a resilient Indian bowling attack.
As Bangladesh began to lose wickets early in the match, Aayushi Shukla played a crucial role in securing a decisive victory for the Indian Women's team. By the 14.2nd over, Bangladesh found themselves struggling at 64-5, with Shukla's dismissal of Juairiya Ferdous proving to be a turning point. Shukla continued to dominate, taking down Habiba Islam Pinky and Anisa Akter to secure a historic win in the U-19 Asia Cup Final. Her exceptional performance was instrumental in sealing the victory for India.
